Needle valves are valves that used to regulate or control fluids flow in hydraulic system. They are also well known as flow control valve or pressure reducing valve . The available material for needle valves are in steel or stainless steel. Needle valves are able to withstand up to 10,000 PSI working pressure , subject to the working temperature. If the working temperature is higher, the lower working pressure that needle valve can withstand. The available connection for needle valve is threaded end which is NPT (National Pipe Thread) or BSPP (British Standard Pipe Parallel) .

1. Specifications:

Needle valves are valves that used for fluid flow regulation in a hydraulic system. The needle-shaped plunger inside ensures the precise control of the fluids flow. The plunger will retract when the handle is turned on, which will give way for the fluids to flow in between the seat and plunger. A few turns must be made to the handle, to retract the plunger, to ensure precise flow regulation. Needle valves are used in industries that required precise control or metering of fluids such as oil, water, and gas. However, needles valve are not suitable for normal shutoff applications .

2. Material:

Commonly used materials for needle valves are Steel and Stainless Steel SS316. Stainless steel needle valves are used for corrosive handling, sampling systems and chemical processing applications, to name a few. While, steel material needle valves are commonly used in oil and gas, refineries, chemical, and water and wastewater industries.

3. Size Range & Pressure Rating:

Needle valve sizes are range from 1/8" to 1" and working pressure are available in 350 Bars , 6000 PSI , and 10,000 PSI. It is good to note that the working pressure may vary depending on the temperature, as higher temperature results in lower working pressure.

4. Connection Type:

There are 2 available connections for needle valves namely NPT (National Pipe Thread) and BSPP (British Standard Pipe Parallel) , and it comes in two variations, which is the Bar Stock Needle Valve design and Bonnet Needle Valve design.
